What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive hypnotherapy combines the best of traditional hypnotherapy
with cutting edge 'mind technologies' like Neuro Linguistic
Programming.
It is a modern approach and individually tailored to your specific
needs. It is most definately not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach.
Cognitive hypnotherapy is a methodology which draws on up-to-date research about how our minds function - it is far removed from all the old cliche's that people associate with hypnosis from the old movies and TV i.e. there are no swinging watches, no clucking like a chicken, and you will certainly not hear the phrase 'look into my eyes'.
Hypnotherapy has come of age and is as much a science as an art in the 21st century.
Our approach involves an active relationship between client and therapist in which the root causes of problems are addressed, this massively increases your success.
Cognitive hypnotherapy utilises techniques from a number of well researched psychological disciplines like NLP, cognitive psychology, gestalt therapy, transactional analysis, and evolutionary psychology.
The synergy generated by using a combination of techniques means cognitive hypnotherapy has the powerful capacity to help you achieve results very rapidly.
The number of sessions you need are small in comparison with traditional, old fashioned approaches.
Many of the older 'talking therapies' dwell on the past, session after session, while you re-access and repeatedly focus on the cause of your problem. With cognitive hypnotherapy, we use the past as a 'springboard' to help find the resources and abilities you have in your powerful unconscious mind so that you are able to create a new and positive future - we focus on the solution, rather than the problem and stick with you all the way. We help you create rapid results.
There is nothing to fear, and everything to gain...
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is completely safe in the hands of a professionally trained, competent, and ethical practitioner. You are aware and in control every moment and you can terminate your session at any time. You cannot get 'stuck' in hypnosis, nor can you do something against your will.
How does hypnosis work?
Our minds work on two levels, the conscious and unconscious. The latter both contains the cause and solution to your problem. In the mostly relaxed state of hypnosis we can communicate with this part of the mind to quickly resolve your problem.
Will hypnosis work for me?
Virtually everyone can achieve successful results with hypnosis. We are happy to discuss any concerns.
How will I know if I'm hypnotised?
Hypnosis is a normal state of mind, so most people cannot tell the difference between being hypnotised and the 'waking state'. You will notice a positive change in your behaviour though.
We educate you about hypnosis during your session
because it is our mission to bring the perception of hypnosis
out of the 'dark ages' and create a better public awareness
of the effectiveness of cognitive hypnotherapy in producing
quick, easy, and permanent behavioural changes (particularly
in the areas of smoking cessation, weight loss, phobias/anxiety
and stress relief). This means that the better informed
you are the more easily we can help resolve your problem.
What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP, for short)?
This is a very good question because there are as many definitions as there are practitioners of it.
So… here goes NLP in a 'nutshell'...
NLP has its origins in the early 1970's in the USA, and was
developed by two men, Richard Bandler and John Grinder who
studied and 'modeled' the techniques of three therapists who
were particularly excellent in their fields - Fritz Perls
(founder of Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (an
extremely effective family therapist), and Milton Erickson
(a hypnotherapist).
Bandler and Grinder discovered the 'patterns' of language
and thinking of these therapists; they then used them and
developed them into a model of thinking and communication
for everyone to use in a variety of contexts of normal human
life e.g. in business, at home, and in education.
At Amazing Changes, we use this communication model, combined
with hypnosis, to help you resolve behavioural problems
which have not responded to other approaches like counseling.
We use NLP to identify your outcome in a particular
way, to disclose your specific unconscious thought patterns
causing your problem, to allow you to become consciously
aware of them, so that you are able to choose more useful
options to address your problem.
Essentially the way we use NLP is to help you reveal your past and present unconscious mind programming and re-programming this, with your agreement and consent, to create a future in which your problem no longer exists.
A key feature of NLP is the uniqueness of individuals; no
one person responds to a problem in exactly the same way as
another - in our therapy, we appreciate this and each client
is treated according to their individuality.
